loft 208

In collaboration with uarchitects, we designed and built the interior of a loft in the historic Lichttoren—a former Philips lightbulb factory in Eindhoven. This iconic building, with its industrial heritage and soaring 4.6-meter ceilings, inspired a design that blends modern innovation with timeless craftsmanship.

Our approach focused on celebrating natural materials and maximizing functionality within the unique space. Birch plywood was used extensively throughout the design, with inset doors that accentuate the raw beauty of the exposed ply edges. This material choice adds warmth and texture, creating a clean yet inviting aesthetic.

To make the most of the vertical space, we designed suspended platforms, creating a dynamic, multi-level layout while maintaining the openness of the loft. The platforms harmonize with the industrial character of the building, offering an elegant solution for defining distinct zones within the space.

The shower area was crafted using polycarbonate panels, adding a modern and translucent element that allows light to flow freely while maintaining privacy. For additional functionality and refinement, high-quality materials like Valchromat and Blum fittings were incorporated throughout the design, ensuring durability and smooth operation.

A standout feature of the loft is the custom tabletop, designed using wood terrazzo made with offcut chips. This sustainable and visually striking element exemplifies our commitment to innovative, environmentally conscious design, turning waste materials into a centerpiece of the space.

The entire project was meticulously finished with hardwax oil, enhancing the natural beauty of the materials while providing a durable, low-maintenance finish.

This loft interior is a testament to our philosophy: transforming spaces through thoughtful, functional, and sustainable design, while honoring the history and character of the buildings we work with.
